What does Citlali mean? Why did you choose it as your business name?

~Citlali means “star” in Náhuatl, both of Aztec and Maya origin.  Growing up, I was told it was supposed to be my name. Turns out it was actually my sis, haha, but it doesn’t change the fact that I lived my life with this thought~ partnered with the fact that one of my aunties (a twin btw) who unfortunately passed away as a baby, was also named Citlali. I like to think she IS a star, watching over our family. Need I say why I chose it? Fitting and meaningful, indeed.

The highlight of the home is the famous, and massive, pink tiled kitchen. That kitchen would actually be a dream to cook in! There is also a very functional, but moody red pantry that had us fantasizing about a pantry the size of our bedroom.

How many people are involved in the entire production process of our towels?

Around 40

Are the kitchen towels woven in a central workshop or various weaver’s homes?

Our production combines the central workshop and weaver's home loom units. For towels, we use both types of production.

Mexico City is our favorite city to visit, the vibrant culture, the lush gardens, but to be honest - we get the most excited planning out all of the delicious meals we hope to eat while there. It was hard to pick just five, but we narrowed down our favorite places to eat while in Mexico City.

What is the best thing about living in the desert?

Solitude. I no longer have to drive my van for hours (which I do love) to a secluded spot, now I just live in the secluded spot. It’s beautiful and quiet, and the sunsets never get old.
